Two days after Leader of Opposition V D Satheeshan lambasting the CPI(M)-led Government in Kerala for it’s “all round failure”, K Sudhakaran, MP and president of the KPCC, came out with more damning charges against Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and the CPI (M).
Quoting official figures, Sudhakaran said on Wednesday that Kerala has become a safe haven for criminals and acts of crime. “The State has seen 60 political murders till date since Pinarayi Vijayan was sworn in as chief minister. What is shocking is that out of the 60 political murders, 14 murders took place during the last 16 months. This is really shocking,” said Sudhakaran.
The KPCC chief blamed the break down of law and order in the State as a fall out of the compromise made by the Chief Minister with communal and extremist organisations. “The State has registered 1019 unnatural/mysterious deaths during the last three years. The Police is yet to solve most of the cases.
“The Government’s soft approach towards communal organisations and criminalisation of Police has resulted in the present scenario,” said Sudhakaran.
He said Kerala has become the major hub of drug traffickers. “Many hardcore criminals who were serving their jail terms were released on parole in the backdrop of the Covid-19 pandemic. They are having a free run all over the State,” said the KPCC president.
Sudhakaran asked chief minister to disband the intelligence network in the State Police as it has degenerated as a scarecrow. “The police protection is meant only for Vijayan and hardcore criminals. There is no guarantee for the lives of common men,” he said.
The Congress in Kerala is launching public meetings and house visits to create an awareness among the people about the impact of the Silver Line Rail Project connecting Kasaragod and Thiruvananthapuram. “The people including hardcore CPI(M) workers are aware of the disaster which would be caused by the K-Rail (as the Silver Line Rail is called in the State). People have welcomed the slogan Say No to K-Rail and Save Kerala coined by the Congress,” said the KPCC boss.
Expressing anguish over the political murders happening across the State, Sudhalaran said this was the price the CPI(M) is paying for its secret liaison with the communal elements.
