The CPI(M)-led Kerala Government reportedly subverted the Central Government’s investigation in the infamous gold smuggling case through the green channel at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport by influencing the Enforcement Directorate officer in charge of Kerala.
This was disclosed by Swapna Suresh, one of the prime accused in the gold smuggling scam that literally shook the Kerala Government during 2019-2021. Speaking to a popular Malayalam satellite news channel on Friday, Swapna stated that three prominent CPI(M) leaders tried to sexually exploit her.
“The then minister Katakampalli Surendran, the then Speaker P Sreeramakrishnan and the then finance minister Thomas Issac had tried their best to sexually abuse me. Both Surendran and Sreeramakrishnan are dirty men who should never be allowed anywhere near our houses,” said Swapna who is in the news for her life story “The Padmaveeham of Traps”.
Swapna reiterated her stance that the gold smuggling took place with the full connivance of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. “I had handed over the entire details to the Enforcement Directorate official and this found its way to the Chief Minister. They bought over the ED official and that was how the investigation came to a dead end,” said Swapna who also said that she was appointed as the liaison officer of the Kerala Government owned Space Park to facilitate the transfer of ill-gotten money from foreign investors to the Chief Minister’s family.
She was highly critical of Katakampalli Surendran and P Sreeramakrishnan who behaved in a nasty way with her. “Surendran forced me to sleep with him and summoned me to his hotel room around midnight. I had to shout at him to stop fooling around me,” said Swapna. She recalled the moments Sreeramakrishnan spent hours in her house boozing and dining. “He behaved like a college student and in a shameless manner. Issac was not that direct and restricted himself to inviting me to accompany him to Munnar where he promised to show me some of the beautiful places,” said the lady.
