A team of Kerala Police is likely to arrive here on Friday to verify the educational documents of the youth purported to be Bittihotra Mohanti, who was arrested in Kerala on March 8 on charges of impersonation and working in a branch of a public sector bank producing fake academic certificates.
Reports said the youth, a so-called look-alike of high profile fugitive Bittihotra, is claiming himself as one Raghav Rajan, a domicile of Andhra Pradesh. But he is in possession of academic certificates which were issued by educational institutes located in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar.
Sources said the Kerala Police team would verify these documents with the Stewart School here and the KIIT University in Bhubaneswar. The team is also believed to quiz Bittihotra’s father Bidya Bhusan Mohanti, a retired police DG of Odisha police. on Friday.
A source close to the retired police officer maintained that he is not willing to speak to the media over the issue claiming that the matter is subjudice. The source quoting Mohanti informed that the Kerala police are in touch with him and have informed him about their arrival in Cuttack to question him.
Unlike last time in 2007 when the Rajasthan police had come here thrice looking for him and the DGP gave them a slip by remaining underground, Mohanti is ready to cooperate this time with the Kerala police, the source added.
Mohanti had been avoiding media ever since the arrest of ‘Bittihotra’ in Kerala and had switched off his cellphone. On Thursday, his phone was found ringing, but he was not taking any calls.
