C Ramesh, a young BJP leader of Ramanathapuram, was hacked to death by unidentified assailants on Monday night at Paramakudy.
Though police are tight-lipped about the gruesome murder, BJP leaders are of the view that the murder could have been committed by forces inimical to the party.
According to BJP’s Tamil Nadu president Tamilissai Sounderarajan, there were more than 20 cuts on the body of Ramesh, who was a popular BJP figure in Ramanathapuram. He is survived by his pregnant wife and a ten-month-old child. Ramesh was 28. A senior RSS activist in Ramanathapuram blamed certain Jehadi groups in the district.
Sounderarajan asked the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister to provide a Government job to the young widow of Ramesh, who was the bread winner of the family. Ramanathapuram is a sensitive district and there were instances of attacks on the Sangh Parivar activists by members of extremist organisations.
