In the cold blooded murder of a 23-year-old professional photographer by family of the girl who he was in a relationship with in West Delhi’s Khyala area, senior investigators said on Saturday that the girl knew that Ankit’s life was in danger but she was kept locked by her family. She somehow managed to get out of her house and reached Tagore Garden Metro Station on Thursday.
In the meantime, Ankit who was on his way to the metro station was attacked by the girl's parents, uncle and younger brother. Forty-eight hours after the incident, in Raghubir Nagar area, where the murder took place, some locals say it (the murder) was bound to happen, others expressed shock and solidarity with Ankit’s family.
In light of the grotesque murder, Ankit's father said, “I have no personal grudges against Muslim community. My son has been murdered but I respect all religions.”
However, family members of Ankit alleged on Sunday that the accused were given VVIP treatment at the police station.
BJP leader Manoj Tiwari visited Ankit’s family on Saturday and demanded Rs 1 crore compensation for the deceased family in Khayala.
In a Press statement issued by the Delhi BJP on Sunday, “Manoj Tiwari on Saturday met the family members of photographer Ankit Saxena who was killed by those opposing his love affair with a girl and expressed condolence on behalf of the BJP family.”
During his meeting with the family members, Manoj Tiwari got to know that the parents of photographer Ankit too were severely hurt during the attack but the Delhi Government made no arrangement for their treatment. The family has made several attempts to seek medical assistance by calling on Ambulance Service Telephone No. 1008 but they got no help.
Manoj Tiwari immediately made arrangement for Ankit's parent's treatment at Dr Ram Manohar lohia Hospital.
Tiwari has said that it is sad to see such incidents in the National Capital and the silence of the Chief Minister and several NGOs in the matter indicates that these people speak on such issues only when it suits their political interest.
