Kejriwal to pray at Somnath temple

A couple of days after cancelling his much talked- about Gujarat visit, the Delhi Chief Minster Arvind Kejriwal changed his mind and decided to visit Gujarat on next Saturday.

However, the Aam Adami Party (AAP) supremo will visit the State only for a single day instead of two days to offer prayer at Somnath temple.

In a Press release, the State unit of AAP said that the Delhi Chief Minister would visit to Somnath Temple on July 9 as per his earlier schedule but he wouldn't meet textile traders at Surat on July 10 as the program had to be cancelled by the organiser following pressure tactic of Gujarat BJP unit.

“Anandiben may have got my Surat trip cancelled but I have been invited by lord Shiva. I shall travel to Somnath on July 9 and that programme remains as per schedule,” Kejriwal tweeted.

AAP had on last Wednesday announced that owing to pressure from Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel's office on Surat's Veer Narmad South Gujarat University to cancel the booking of its convention hall it was cancelling Kejriwal's maiden visit.

Kejriwal was to visit the State on July 9 & 10 and begin his journey from Somnath in Saurasthra 9 and visit Surat to attend a function at university hall the next day. He was also to hold meetings with leading businessmen in Surat.

Gujarat State in-charge of AAP and Delhi MlA Gulab Yadav and State AAP convener Kanu Kalsaria had alleged that Gujarat Government was resorting to political vendetta by pressurising university authorities in Surat to cancel the reservations for the university hall. The ruling BJP on its part called it a “publicity stunt”.

Countering AAP's blame, the State BJP spokesman Bharat Pandya said that in order to shield his party's failure to get people's attention, Kejriwal was deliberately announcing and cancelling his scheduled travel to Gujarat.
