A day after Arvind Kejriwal and his supporters caused inconvenience to Mumbaikars at various places during his lok Sabha poll campaign in the metropolis, the city police on Thursday registered a case against the AAP chief and his associates for Unlawful Assembly outside the domestic airport.
In a case registered at the Sahar Airport police station, Kejriwal and his supporters were charged under section 188 (disobedience to order promulgated by public servant) and Section 141 (Unlawful Assembly) of the IPC.
Hundreds of AAP supporters had turned out at the airport terminal-two to accord a reception to Kejriwal on his arrival from New Delhi on Wednesday morning, in violation of the order banning Assembly of more than five people.
The case registered against Kejriwal was in addition to the fines of Rs500 each imposed on three autorickshaw drivers for ferrying more than three passengers — all supporters of Kejriwal — from the city airport to Andheri railway station.
Police sources said that the Sahar Airport police would forward a formal report about the case registered by them against Kejriwal and his supporters to the State Election Commission (SEC) as the unlawful Assembly of people took place outside the airport when the model code of conduct was in force.
