Though hardly a few months have passed in the completion of the massive 158-km-long 8 lane Outer Ring Road(ORR) around Hyderabad at a cost of `6,600 crore, Telangana Government has started gearing itself up for even bigger Regional Outer Ring Road (RORR) to encircle a much larger area around the State capital and several surrounding districts.
The Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao told the Government officials to speed up the process and ensure that the 350 kms long RORR next to existing ORR was completed in two years.
The construction of ORR with an assistance of `3,123 crore form Japan International Cooperation Agency had taken more than 11 years to complete.
Speaking at a high level review meeting the Chief Minister directed the officials to prepare a detailed project report, and divide the work into several package and award of tender. He expressed confidence that apart from improving the connectivity to many districts surrounding Hyderabad including the newly created districts the RORR will also accelerate the economic development in those areas and help in further decongesting the Hyderabad city.
