Pratyusha, a girl rescued by the neighbours and police from the clutches of her ruthless stepmother last year and was later adopted by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is successfully doing her nursing course at a Government college.
Pratyusha was confined by her stepmother to her home by chaining her on the false pretext that the girl was mentally unstable. The mother had in fact tried to kill her by pouring acid in her mouth but the intervention by neighbours and the police saved her in August last year. later, the police arrested her father, a telecom department employee and her stepmother on charges of attempt to murder.
The girl, who was admitted to a hospital told the police that the stepmother wanted to kill her to grab a flat which her grandfather had left in her name and her father had also connived.
Moved by her story, the Chief Minister visited her in the hospital and announced that he will personally take care of her. Declaring her to be his adopted daughter, KCR hosted her a lunch at his official residence and made arrangements for her safe and secure stay at a Government shelter.
According to an official press note, the Chief Minister was briefed about the progress Pratyusha made over the last ten months and her performance as a nursing student. She was enrolled in a nursing college as per her wishes and the CM assured her full assistance till she settles down.
