KCR suggests green tank for idol immersion

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has come up with a new idea to put an end to annual recurring problem of pollution in Hussain Sagar lake, a major lung space for Hyderabad city. He suggested the construction of an alternate tank on an area of 20 acres in nearby Indira Park for the immersion of Ganesh and Durga idols.

Noting that immersion of thousands of idols made of Plaster of Paris had become a major source of pollution in the old lake, he told the officials that immersion should be shifted to the new tank to help clean and beautify the lake. In view of the significance attached to the Hussain Sagar for immersion, the Chief Minister said that the new tank will be filled with the water of Hussain Sagar.

After visiting the Hussain Sagar, the Chief Minister held a review meeting with the officials of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation and Hyderabad Water Works and Sewage Board.
