KCR steps up efforts for ‘third' alternative sans Cong, BJP

Published on:

In line with his efforts to galvanise a non-Congress and non-BJP political front in the country, TRS chief and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Friday dialed up his counterparts in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Delhi namely Mamata Banerjee, MK Stalin and Arvind Kejriwal besides the NCP, SP and RJD chiefs Sharad Yadav, Akhilesh Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav respectively.

During the last six months KCR had been meeting and visiting these leaders. Sources close to KCR said his telephonic calls are part of his plans to intensify his efforts to cobble up a non-BJP, non-Congress coalition at the national level.

Sources said KCR also spoke to Shiv Sena chief and former Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray.

KCR is reaching out to leaders of many non-BJP and non-Congress parties to join forces, as part of his campaign against the Centre's alleged anti-people policies.

The TRS chief will test the waters during the forthcoming Monsoon Session to see if a United Front of these political parties could be projected in Parliament.

The TRS MPs would raise a number of issues, including the NDA Government's alleged lopsided economic policies and injustice meted out to Telangana, during the Monsoon session of Parliament commencing July 18, sources maintained.

“The TRS president would “sharpen his efforts to safeguard the federal, secular and democratic values which are in danger in the country,” the TRS sources said.

Rao is working towards exposing the NDA Government, which is leading the country into an economic crisis, they alleged.

The Telangana Chief Minister, who has been vociferous in his opposition towards the Centre and the BJP on several issues, is gearing up to expose the Central Government's undemocratic attitude by organising nationwide protests, they claimed.

The TRS chief would hold a meeting with the party MPs on Saturday and chalk out the strategy to be followed during the upcoming session. “To reflect the people's viewpoint, the CM will advise the MPs to raise the falling value of Rupee against the US dollar and fight against the Centre in both houses,” it said.

The TRS Government has accused the BJP-led NDA Government of not delivering on the promises made to Telangana in the Andhra Pradesh Re-organisation Act and also not helping the state with funds for development.
