Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrsekhar Rao, accompanied by a 43 member entourage, including his family and a team of Ministers and top officials, arrived in Tirupati on Tuesday on a thanksgiving mission.
KCR has brought with him various gold ornaments worth Rs 5.59 crore, including a 14.20 kgs gold necklace “Saligram Haram” worth Rs 3.7 crore, another 4.65 kgs Kanta Abharanam and a nose stud. However, the move has triggered a controversy with many questioning why he was burdening the public exchequer and spending the taxpayer’s money to fulfill a personal vow.
He was in the temple town to fulfill his personal vow of offering gold ornaments to lord Venkateshwara temple on achieving the separate Telangana State. On arriving at the Renigunta airport KCR was accorded a warm welcome by the top officials of Andhra Pradesh Government and the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD).
During his prolong struggle for separate Telangana State KCR had vowed to gift gold ornaments to many big temples both in Andhra and Telangana if his dream turns into reality.
