Karthik gets anticipatory bail

In a relief to Railway Minister Sadananda Gowda, a Bangalore sessions court on Monday granted anticipatory bail to his son Karthik Gowda. Karthik is facing charges of rape, cheating and kidnapping from a Kannada starlet Mythreyi Gowda.

The court has given bail to Karthik on the conditions that he has to appear before police on 15th and 30th of every month and submit Rs 2-lakh personal bond along with two solvent sureties. Gowda will have to submit his passport till the trial is completed.

On September 5, the eighth Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate court had issued arrest warrant against Karthik, who is now declared absconding with police teams on the lookout for him.

The starlet Mythreyi Gowda told the media that she would continue her fight against Karthik Gowda. Her lawyers have indicated that they would challenge the verdict in the High Court as the person is very influential and might try to tamper with the witness.

The incident has sent shock waves in the BJP and this has dented the image of Railway Minister DV Sadananda Gowda. Since the controversy erupted, he has dismissed all allegations against his son, saying his son has been “falsely implicated” in the matter. “law will take its own course. I will not interfere in the matter. It is a personal matter. It is a falsely implicated complaint,” Gowda had earlier told reporters.

The actress had claimed she and Karthik had got married at Gowda’s residence in Mangalore in June in the presence of the driver of Gowda’s son. The case has taken twists and turns with her purported telephonic conversation with him also being released to media. The claim about marriage came on the day when Karthik’s engagement ceremony with another woman was underway at Kushalnagar.
