Karnataka CM's copter lands safely after bird hit

A helicopter carrying Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Home Minister G Parameshwara and other dignitaries have made an emergency landing after alert pilot noticed a bird hit on Monday.

According to police sources, during its take off a bird hit forced the pilot for an emergency landing at the HAl airport in the morning where it was supposed to ferry the VIPs to Hassan for an official visit.

A press release issued from the Chief Minister’s office said that the bird hit the helicopter within seconds of take off and the alert pilot landed the chopper safely. The Chief Minister and Home Minister continued their journey  to Hassan in the same helicopter after a team of technical experts found no glitches.

The Karnataka  CM’s office later tweeted “Thanks to alert pilot, major tragedy averted after a bird hit the helicopter in which @ CMofKarnataka was flying to #Shravanabelagola.”

Both Chief Minister and Home Minister  were on their way to Hassan to launch development works in Shravanabelagola ahead of Mahamastakabhisheka.

This is the second incident in which Siddaramaiah escaped unhurt. In 2015, a helicopter that Siddaramaiah was to board  from the same airport developed technical snag. Fire broke out in a part of the helicopter which was noticed by the ground staff. The CM had cancelled his helicopter ride and travelled by road after the snag was noticed.
