Karnataka Assembly on Monday paid rich tributes to late BJP leader and Union Minister Gopinath Munde who died in an early morning mishap in Delhi. On the first day of the Monsoon session beginning on Monday, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in his obituary reference in the House called Gopinath Munde a great backward class’s leader who struggled to uplift the marginalised communities in the country.
“Munde was a leader of backward class communities, including Banjaras,” Siddaramaiah said paying homage to Munde in the State Assembly on the opening day of the 27-day legislature session.
He described Munde as a dynamic leader who succeeded in whatever position given to him by the BJP or the Government of the day.
The Chief Minister said Munde was very keen on performing his duties as the Union Rural Development Minister when tragedy struck in an unfortunate incident.
The Karnataka Assembly also paid rich tributes to former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Janardhana Reddy and renowned cinematographer VK Murthy, who died during the inter-session period.
Murthy was a jailed freedom fighter and filmmaker Guru Dutt's regular cameraman in his films.
