Tibetan religious head 17th Gyalwang Karmapa Ogyen Trinley Dorje has asked the followers to remain calm and follow Ahimsa preaching of lord Buddha in the wake of Maha Bodhi temple serial blasts even as Himachal Pradesh police asked all monasteries in the State to install CCTV cameras on Monday.
“As yet, we do not know who or why or by whom the sacred site was targeted but the best homage we can pay being a Buddhist is by following the preaching of lord Buddha on love and ‘Ahimsa’ (non-violence),” said the young monk. The Karmapa has been residing in Gyutu Tantric University on the outskirt of Dharamshala where spiritual guru Dalai lama and Tibet Government in-exile is headquartered. Karmapa had mysteriously escaped to India in 2000.
On the other hand with CCTV cameras coming as a handy tool in zeroing on the perpetrators of Maha Bodhi temple serial blasts at Bodh Gaya of Bihar, Himachal Pradesh police has asked all the Buddhist temples and monasteries’ administrations to install high resolution CCTV cameras to keep an eye on anti-social elements.
Heightened security arrangements have been made across the State at Buddhist monasteries and places of Buddhist importance, especially at Dharamshala. Since Sunday morning after the blast at Maha Bodhi temple, police personnel were deployed at strategic places and frisking of vehicles were done at different monasteries.
Intelligence Bureau had issued high alert to the State post the blast.
“We have already asked the Buddhist temple administrations and Tibetan government to install CCTV cameras in all strategic locations but except from palace of Dalai lama and head quarter of Tibetan Government-in-exile, CCTV cameras are not installed,” said State DGP B Kamal Kumar.
“Though some of the important monasteries have installed CCTV cameras voluntarily but now after the blasts at Maha Bodhi temple, Himachal Police has asked each and every monastery and Buddhist shrines to have high resolution CCTV cameras apart from other hi-tech security arrangements in place,” said Kumar.
