Kannur murder: Cong steps up attack against CPM, CM

The Congress on Friday intensified its attack against Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and his party CPI(M) whose activists had allegedly hacked Youth Congress leader SP Shuhaib (29) to death in Kannur on Monday night for the police’s failure to arrest the culprits even four days after the incident even as an eyewitness to the gruesome killing recounted the horror of the Marxist attack saying they had hacked Shuhaib continuously as though they were chopping meat.

“They hacked Shuhaib in the leg after exploding bombs. When he fell down, two of them hacked him several times in the legs. One of them sat on the ground and hacked him in the legs continuously. They hacked him as though they were chopping meat,” Shuhaib’s friend and Youth Congress worker Noushad (28), who was with him at the time of the attack, told the media.

Shuhaib, Block Youth Congress secretary in Mattannur, Kannur, was hacked to death by a CPI(M) killer gang of four masked men while he was having tea along with Noushad and another friend at a roadside restaurant at Theroor, Edayannur near Mattannur late Monday night. Though he was taken to a hospital, he succumbed to the hack injuries.

“We were having tea when the killer gang arrived in a car with ‘For Registration’ plate. They threw a bomb and hacked him with a sword.

He did not suffer hack injuries above hip level only because he used a wooden bench to block them,” Noushad, who also had suffered injuries in the attack, said at the Kannur hospital where he was undergoing treatment.
