A Congress leader in Goa has sent a toy dog to Pakistan People’s Party president Bilawal Bhutto in an apparent rebuff to his constant statements on the Kashmir issue.
Congress organising secretary Durgadas Kamat, who was recently relieved from the post of spokesperson, said that the ‘barking dog’ toy is a perfect gift for Bhutto to remind him that barking dogs don’t bite.
“Bhutto should not start his political career by training guns on Kashmir and India, rather he should work for welfare of people of Pakistan. Saying that Kashmir is a part of Pakistan, he is literally barking up the wrong tree,” Kamat told The Pioneer.
Kamat has ordered the delivery of the parcel containing a plastic toy dog to be sent to PPP’s headquarters in Islamabad. Bhutto, the son of two-time Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, is seeking greater political space in the troubled country and his utterances on Kashmir as seen as a means towards that end.
Kamat now claims, that if Bhutto believes that Kashmir is a part of Pakistan, then by the same logic “Pakistan belongs to Hindustan, because Pakistan came into existence after Partition”.
Kamat said that the National Democratic Alliance Government should not remain silent to his utterances.
“Narendra Modi was vocal about Pakistan in his lok Sabha poll campaign, but he is now relatively quiet,” Kamat said adding that his gesture was in order to wake the Central Government up to the reality.
Kamat, however, didn’t address the Press conference at the Congress office, rather chose the premises of the Goa Union of Journalists to make his point.
Asked if he was sending the toy in capacity as a Congress office bearer in Goa Kamat said, “I am sending it as an Indian, who has been offended”. PNS
