The police have arrested four persons in connection with the murder of a 13-year-old girl at Mulundi in Kaliganj Assembly constituency in Nadia district. Victim Tamanna Khatun was allegedly bombed to death by Trinamool Congress men who were bombing the houses of the CPI(M) supporters in the course of their celebration after the TMC won the Assembly by-election on Monday by a whopping 50,000 votes. Even as the Left and Congress supporters jammed the streets the mother of the victim demanded a CBI investigation into the murder.
“They came in hordes in front and threw bombs injuring many in this locality because we vote for CPI(M), in front of my eyes my daughter was bombed, the police saw it but they have arrested only four persons when there were 15-20 of them, I had 5 children and only this one was surviving, they have even taken away this small girl, what will I do now, I want a CBI investigation,” the mother of the victim said. The father of the girl who works in Bolangir in Odisha arrived on Tuesday amid a pall of gloom saying “we don’t even do the party actively, we just vote for them, they charged bombs in the areas where they had trailed, this is the way they have subjugated the entire Nadia district, the people even if they do not want to vote them have to do so as they are told that if the TMC would attack the residents of the booth area where they would get got less number of votes.”
Reacting to the incident BJP leader Dilip Ghosh said “this situation has been a gift of Mamata Banerjee to Benga, the CPI(M) too perpetrated crimes, but CM Mamata has taken that crime to each and every booth of the State, the BJP has been facing that brunt for the past several years”.
