After his anointment as BJP’ prime ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi is receiving overwhelming support from different quarters. latest addition is former Supreme Court judge VR Krishna Iyer.
In a letter to the Gujarat Chief Minister, the prominent jurist extended his best wishes to the CM for becoming PM candidate. Iyer described Modi as a ‘good candidate’ for prime ministership for the upcoming lok Sabha elections in 2014.
In the letter, intended to greet Modi on his 64th birthday, former judge backed the BJP’s decision of anointing him as prime ministerial candidate as timely for 16th lok Sabha elections.
The 97-year-old retired judged is considered as the oldest judge alive in the country. He described Modi as positive and having nationalistic virtue with global dimensions.
Modi is getting support at national level for his good administrative skills and is quite capable of realising the great principles of ‘Swaraj’, he said, adding that he is confident that Modi would remove poverty from India.
Praising the CM, Iyer said that Gujarat is the only State which has used solar power on a very large scale and under Modi’s leadership Gujarat has emerged as ‘Solar State’. Adhering to the principles and ideals of Mahatma Gandhi, Gujarat is the only State to implement prohibition and uproot the corruption in the public life, opined the veteran.
“I am committed to socialism. And I support Modi because he is also socialist and encourages Gandhian values - protection of human values and rights, brotherhood, justice at social, economic and political level,” he added. Iyer said that Modi would fulfil hopes and aspirations of the people of India and uphold national dignity.
