Judges blame colleague for getting into Raquibul racket

The three senior judicial officers, who turned up before the police for interrogation here on Friday in the Tara Shahdeo case, blamed retired District Judge ID Mishra for introducing Ranjeet Singh Kohli alias Raquibul Hassan to them.

Principal District and Sessions Judge of Deoghar Pankaj Srivastava, Principal District and Sessions Judge of Hazaribagh Nageshwar Prasad and Additional District and  Sessions Judge of Deoghar Veena Mishra were interrogated by the Kotwali DSP

Deepak Ambashtha for about half an hour each at the Daily Market police station.

"Three out of four judges came here and their statements were recorded by us…they have accepted in their statements that Kohli used to call them quite often," said Ambashtha. The statements, however, given by the judges will be verified and submitted to the High Court which will take a final decision on it, added Ambashtha.

Interestingly, most of the judicial officers, who are on the friends' list of Kohli had, some time or other, been posted in the State's law department. "It implied that he used the  law department officials to seek favour for the tainted officers and earned fast bucks," pointed out a judicial officer.

Kohli is also said to have revealed that he had done pairvee for the jailed IAS-IFS officers to get bail.

He further added that the suspended Vigilance Registrar of Jharkhand High Court Mushtaq Ahmed did not turn up to record his statement.

Police will further intimate to the High Court about Ahmed and wait for further orders.

Sources in the police department revealed that Pankaj Srivastava in his statement has affirmed that he had sent his bodyguard Ajay Kumar to his Ranchi residence but expressed his ignorance on how he went to Delhi along with Kohli.
