The Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) has postponed the physical measurement and efficiency tests scheduled from October 28 to 31 for the Jharkhand Assistant Jailor Competitive Examination 2025 at JAP-1 Ground in Doranda, Ranchi, citing a warning of possible heavy rainfall due to Cyclone Arnab.
According to the revised schedule, the tests under Selection Board-01, originally planned for October 28, 29, 30 and 31, will now be held on November 18, 19, 20 and 21, 2026, respectively. The remaining physical test schedule will continue as previously announced.
The commission revised the dates in view of the weather warning and a communication received from the offices of the Director General of Police and Inspector General of Police.
The recruitment drive is being conducted to fill 84 Assistant Jailor posts. A total of 56,304 candidates are expected to appear for the physical efficiency test across the state. Around 25,215 candidates under Selection Board-01, covering the Ranchi, Palamu and Kolhan regions, were scheduled to take the tests at JAP-1 Ground.
The examination schedules for the other selection boards covering Hazaribagh and Godda-Dumka remain unchanged.
Under the prescribed physical efficiency criteria, male candidates must complete a 1,600-metre run within six minutes, while female candidates are required to complete it within 10 minutes. Height and chest measurements will also be assessed as per the recruitment standards.
The commission has advised candidates to check its official website, jssc.jharkhand.gov.in, regularly for updates and follow the revised schedule.
The rescheduling is intended to facilitate the safe and smooth conduct of the physical tests amid the anticipated adverse weather conditions.
