To prove his innocence, a Bihar Minister on Tuesday repeated a popular dialogue from a Bollywood movie. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar too defended his Cabinet colleague and alleged the Opposition BJP for reflecting their sick mindset over the issue.
“My name is Shahid Ali Khan and I’m not a terrorist”, said the Minority Affairs and IT Minister of Nitish Government. Earlier, the Minister, a (JD)U MlA from Sursand in Sitamarhi, was accused by the Opposition BJP of having links with Pakistan-based ISI and Indian Mujahideen operatives active in the State.
The BJP leaders had raised the issue in the State legislature on Monday and demanded investigation into the issue after an intelligence agency had reported this matter with the State police headquarters.
The intelligence wing of the Shastra Suraksha Bal (SSB) had earlier wrote to the State police headquarters about the Minister for having links with two alleged ISI and IM men working in Champaran district of Bihar. The letter was later leaked to a section of media which had put the Minister under scanner.
The BJP on Monday raised the issue inside the State Assembly and Council and demanded probe into the issue, The Opposition party even refused to take replies from the Minister unless the investigation is ordered. Though, a senior member of the Nitish Cabinet, Vijay Chaudhury had defended his colleague Shahid Ali Khan saying that the “investigation in his case has already been done by the Bihar police and nothing has been found against him”.
“They’re trying to make an issue out of a non-issue”, he said on Monday but the BJP leaders refused to budge from their stand. When the Opposition BJP continued to create ruckus in the House, the Minister rose up to his chair and said introduced himself using the popular dialogue from a Bollywood flick.
The Bihar Chief Minister who even earlier had dismissed such charge by the BJP leaders being leveled against his Cabinet colleague, again defended him on the floor of the House.
“It has been said time and again that nothing was found against the Minister in the police investigation but still the BJP leaders keep raising it which reflects their sick mindset,” said Nitish Kumar. “What’s the source of the information of intelligence wing of the SSBIJ” Kumar had sought to know earlier.
The Bihar Chief Minister also slammed the BJP daring them to bring no-confidence motion against his Government even in the current Budget Session of the State legislature and make it fall. “I dare you to bring no-confidence motion against my Government in this ongoing Session of the House and make it fall,” challenged the Bihar Chief Minister.
Earlier, the senior BJP leader Shushil Kumar Modi had said that Nitish Kumar was heading a minority Government after it parted ways from the BJP and two of its party MlAs no longer associated with it.
When the Opposition leader from BJP and Kishore Yadav said that even if the BJP would bring no-confidence motion against his Government, Nitish Kumar would manage to survive through jugad technology (by hook or crook), Kumar said that he didn’t believe in jugad technology to survive his Government “otherwise he would have survived his Government in 2000 itself”.
Nitish also alleged that the State BJP leaders have started behaving like they were residents of Gujarat. Kumar further emphatically said that now the question of making alliance with the BJP now was out of question. “Rahen ya mitti mein mil jaye per ab BJP se samjhauta nahi karenge…ashambhav..namumkeen hai ab (whether I live or be perished but will not make alliance with BJP now…its impossible…out of question)”, he said.
The Bihar Chief Minister rebutted point-wise what the Opposition leader Nand Kishore Yadav had charged against him and his Government on Monday. Earlier, the protesting Opposition party BJP forced adjournment of the State legislative Assembly on the deteriorating law and order situation in the State. They also shouted anti-Government and anti-Chief Minister slogans.
later, when the House reassembled, the Opposition leader again raised the issue of adjournment notices and when the Speaker said that he has called a meeting of Business Advisory committee of the House later in the day the BJP members calmed down.
