JD(U) claims it visited 5 mn houses in 5 days

The JD(U) has claimed tremendous support of the common people to its unique and first of its kind programme ‘Har Ghar Dastak’ under which five million houses have already been knocked at during a short period of five days.
Bihar JD(U) president Bashistha Narain Singh said that during the first five days of the campaign almost 50 lakh houses across the State have been knocked by the Ministers, MPs, legislators and party workers.
Under the theme ‘Ek karyakarta, das dastak, ek sandesh har ghar tak’ (each worker to knock ten houses and take one message to all) and the message is ‘Aage badhta rahe Bihar, Phir ek bar Nitish Kumar’ (let Bihar progress with Nitish Kumar once again leading it).
“This is a unique programme as for the first time a political party in power is going to each house seeking feedback from the people about the functioning of the Government and taking public opinion on how to make their lives better. This way the JD(U) has started a new political culture in the country,” said Singh.
The programme was launched on July 2 at 15,000 places simultaneously across the State, even though the target was only 10,000 places, with CM Nitish himself knocking ten doors in Pashchim Darwaza locality in the walled city. Earlier the programme was introduced to the senior party leaders by Prashant Kishor, the man behind this and other innovative publicity programmes for the party. Kishor is the same IITian who had earlier worked for Narendra Modi as Gujarat CM and also during 2014 lok Sabha polls.
“Under the Dastak programme which will continue till July 11, the target is to knock on one crore houses and to reach three to four crore people. Our feedback is that the peoples’ faith in parliamentary democracy is further strengthening due to this initiative. The people feel that the persons for whom they will vote will come back to their houses not just to seek votes once in five years, and also work on people-centric schemes,” said Singh.
The party leader also claimed that BJP was highly frustrated over the success of Dastak programme and its leaders in desperation were using foul language. Accusing BJP for being least bothered about public convenience in the city, Singh said he got opportunity to go to congested localities and was shocked to see the bad condition of drainage and civic amenities. He said, “As a matter of fact the urban development Minister since 2005 had been from BJP quota. The BJP had been calling it an urban party but its Ministers did nothing for urbanisation and urban amenities. Our programme has exposed them.”
Singh said since the BJP has stated that it would fight Bihar Assembly election by not projecting any State leader rather with the face of PM Modi, the party should declare it as an election of national importance and a sort of referendum on the NDA Government at Centre.
