Contrary to expectations, former Kerala minister Jose Thettayil of the Janata Dal (S), presently an MlA of the Opposition lDF, is unlikely to resign over the charge of sexual abuse leveled against him by a woman from his own constituency Angamaly near Kochi.
According to the JD(S) leadership, there is no precedent of any MlA resigning from the Assembly over similar allegations.
“We will give all moral, legal and political support to Thettayil in this issue,” said Mathew T Thomas, State president of the JD(S), in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday after a leadership meeting of the party. An lDF meeting held on Tuesday endorsed the JD(S) decision considering the political atmosphere prevailing in the State.
A Delhi report said that the national leadership of the JD(S) endorsed the State unit’s decision.
