Undeterred by the scathing criticism by the Opposition parties launched against her administration for its alleged apathy towards the victims of the recent flood which devastated Chennai and four other districts in Tamil Nadu, Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Wednesday reached out to the people of the State through an emotional audio message.
Jayalalithaa told the people of Tamil Nadu that full scale rescue, relief and rehabilitation missions were taking place on war footing in areas devastated by the floods. “I, Jayalalithaa, your dear sister is worried about the sufferings being experienced by the people due to the unprecedented rains and flood,” she said in the message which wet viral in social media and whatapps platforms.
“Ill bear your burdens.I have been working hard and have dedicated my entire life for you. I have forgotten the name Jayalalithaa given to me by my parents because you address me as Amma and I am always with you only,” said Jayalalithaa in the heart rending message.
She said ‘the hands of this mother would wipe out the tears of all the people’. The chief minister said the ministers, bureaucrats, police officials and the central forces were working shoulder to shoulder with the people to redress their sufferings.
She also remined the people that she has no personal life and relatives. “The people of Tamil Nadu are my family. You are my everything,” she said in the message.
Jayalalithaa had toured the R K Nagar constituency once and also undertook an aerial survey of the flood affected regions in an IAF helicopter. Though she has been monitoring the situation on an hourly basis, the Opposition DMK, especially its leader M K Stalin was highly critical of the CM for not physically visiting the flood affected places.
