In a no-holds-barred attack, AIADMK general secretary J Jayalalithaa asked the people of Pollachi in Western Tamil Nadu on Tuesday to throw out the tainted Manmohan Singh-led Government with “lock, stock and barrel”.
Hardly 24 hours after the Union Finance Minister, P Chidambaram, patted himself on the back with his claim that the economy is in good shape, the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, pointed out that spiralling prices of essential commodities have broken the back of the common man.
She appealed to the people to provide the AIADMK a platform to serve them from the Centre so that she could help them to make life easy.The AIADMK general secretary lambasted DMK chief Karunanidhi for fielding A Raja, who played a major role in the 2G spectrum scam, from the nearby Nilgiri lok Sabha constituency.
“Karunanidhi’s family was involved in the 2G scam and they sold spectrum like selling movie tickets. The onus is on you to give a fitting lesson to the DMK in the ensuing elections. Will Karunanidhi explain as to why the DMK was part of the Congress during the last 10 yearsIJ” thundered Jayalalithaa in her characteristic style.
Her emphasis was on the spiralling prices of essential commodities during the UPA administration. “The continuing price rise is the fallout of the weak and senseless economic policies being pursued by the UPA Government. The last 10 years saw the sufferings of the poor going up and the Congress is responsible for this state of affairs,” said Jayalalithaa.
