J&K visit not a failure: HM

Claiming that the visit of all-party delegation to the State of Jammu & Kashmir was not a ‘failure’, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday said the Union Government would chalk out its future course of action after holding a separate meeting of delegates in New Delhi.

Winding up his two-day long visit to the State, Singh also claimed the all-party delegation has met people from both Kashmir and Jammu regions and now in the next phase we would like to establish direct contact with the people of ladakh and listen to their grievances.

Addressing mediapersons in Jammu, the Union Home Minister said, “The all-party delegation will meet in Delhi after its return and decide the action plan for the future”.

Singh said the delegation had very good interactions with individuals and groups during its visit to Kashmir and Jammu and heard their views on different issues.

Rajnath said many members of the delegation had little knowledge about Jammu & Kashmir and the visit helped them to understand the ground situation of the State. “I hope that whenever any discussion on Jammu & Kashmir takes place in Parliament, we will get full cooperation from them,” he said.

Meanwhile, ahead of the arrival of All Party Delegation in Jammu Panun Kashmir, an organisation representing Kashmiri Pandits, decided to boycott  the meeting claiming it was an eyewash.

Panun Kashmir convener Agnishakher told reporters 12 representatives of various Kashmiri Pandit organisations were invited for the meeting with the all-party delegation visiting Jammu and the time allotted to them was for eight minutes from 2.55 pm to 3.03 pm.

“How can 12 representatives representing different political parties and points of view be able to communicate anything coherent to the all-party delegation in this duration,” Agnishakher said. “We are boycotting the meeting with all-party delegation here today as it is merely an eyewash to show (that) nationalists (are) being taken onboard while they are begging before separatists, he said.
