J&K Guv: Mufti was exceptional farsighted leader in the country

Jammu & Kashmir Governor NN Vohra on Sunday termed former Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed as an “exceptional farsighted leader in the country” who was focused on securing the future of his people in the best possible way.

Releasing a special edition of Sheeraza journal published by state-run Academy of Art, Culture and languages on the first death anniversary of Mufti, Vohra said Sayeed was a highly secular and visionary politician. He said despite having a dissenting point of view on any issue Mufti was always on the same page when it came to the stability, development and welfare of Jammu & Kashmir and its people.

Interestingly, former Hurriyat Conference chairman Prof Abdul Gani Bhat has also penned an article in Mufti’s praise. Bhat was Mufti’s classmate at Srinagar’s Sri Pratap college and Aligarh Muslim University. Bhat has said that despite divergent political views they remained friends during their lifetime.

Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti said that her father always dreamt about the prosperity of Jammu and Kashmir and political resolution of the issues facing the State.
