last week one of the top commanders of the Northern Command headquarters had also warned against the possibility of militant strike on 'soft targets' including schools.
The educational institutions including Army schools are likely to remain closed from January 23-28 to prevent any attack in and around Jammu. Army commandos have been deployed atop several school buildings falling in the cantonment areas and those facing serious threat. Thorough frisking of visitors is also going on across several schools in Jammu to check movement of inimical elements.
Indian Army is also not taking any chances and maintaining tight vigil along the loC to prevent selective targeting of Indian patrols/posts by Pakistan's Border Action Team (BAT).
BSF has also beefed up its defences and rushed additional companies to plug the vulnerable routes of infiltration. BSF jawans deployed near the water bodies along the IB have also been directed to remain in a state of high alert as infiltrators prefer using water channels to infiltrate inside the Indian territory.
During the meeting Governor NN Vohra stressed the need for close and effective coordination among all the security forces and Intelligence agencies to maintain peace and order in the State.
