The J&K Government on Tuesday withdrew ban on a prominent English daily Kashmir Reader whose publication was stopped three months ago during the height of public protests triggered by the killing of a militant leader. Mehbooba Mufti, during a meeting with a grouping of prominent editors of Kashmir based newspapers—Kashmir Editors Guild—said that the ban had been revoked and she would like to see the newspaper on Wednesday morning. “I am looking forward to read the newspaper ‘Kashmir Reader’ tomorrow morning,” she said. later in the day, DM of Srinagar sent a formal order to the newspaper office informing withdrawal of the ban. The ban on newspaper drew a lot of flak within Kashmir and outside. The Amnesty International had termed the ban  as infringement on the freedom of expression.
