Prime Minister Narendra Modi came under attack from the religious scholars, prominent intellectuals representing various schools of thoughts among the Muslims for his continuing silence over the increasing intolerance and hate crimes against the minorities in the country. They warned that the country was facing a threat of fascism.
At a public meeting on “Reconstruction of society and our responsibility” organised as part of the four-day national conference of Jamat-e-Islami in Hyderabad, the speakers were highly critical of the Modi Government for what the speakers termed “attempts to dilute secular values of the country”.
At the same time they also urged the Muslim community not to blame outsiders for all their ills while neglecting their own shortcomings.
Moulana Jalaluddin Umri, Ameer, JIH said, “you cannot go on blaming the conspiracies by United States, Israel, Russia and so on for your problems. The world will laugh at you and ask what kind of foolish people are these who go on blaming conspiracies but don’t do anything to counter them”, he said.
He urged the Muslims to realise their potential and utilise their resources efficiently to play their role in the reconstruction of society.
