Mindful of Congress’ plan to rake up ‘communalism versus secularism’ debate in the run-up to lok Sabha election, the BJP has advised its workers not to launch a personalised attack on political adversaries.
Senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley told the party workers at a meeting that they should walk an extra mile to ensure that UPA’s mis-governance and similar issues remain in the centre stage.
He was addressing the first meeting of Information Communication Campaign Sub Committee of the Narendra Modi-headed Nation Campaign Committee.
The sub-committee, headed by party treasurer Piyush Goyal and supported by the IT & Communication Cell of the party, will focus on harnessing the power of a large volunteer force, leveraging technology and social media in a country-wide outreach programme.
Sources claimed Jaitley referred to the controversy over Batla House encounter and political slugfest over Bharat Ratna to Amartya Sen while underlining that party leaders should be mindful of the “language”.
Sources claimed Jaitley asked party volunteers to desist from making Batla House encounter and Godhra train carnage a Hindu versus Muslim issue, something that gives advantage to the Congress.
Jaitley announced that the party was already in election mode and the nation was looking for a decisive and honest leadership to replace the discredited and corrupt UPA regime. Recounting the history of past elections and the current wave in favour of the BJP, he expressed confidence that the party will surpass all current projections.
General secretary (organisation), Ramlal, appreciated the wide participation of technocrats and functionaries from 21 states and 3 UTs in the event organised by the IT Cell and guided the team to propagate the vision of the party and engage with the voters at the grassroots.
As many as 300 delegates brainstormed through the day on effective use of technology (digital, mobile and internet) and developed plans to expand the reach of the party and its leadership on various social media platforms.
The theme of the meeting was to seek feedback from all over the country to draw up its strategy to achieve Mission 272+ (majority mark in lok Sabha).
The BJP plans to create a volunteer force that will reach out to unregistered young voters and assist them to register and participate in the elections. A robust training program and a volunteer toolkit will be rolled out in the coming days, sources said.
