Jammu & Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday evening visited Sheikhpora transit camp, Budgam, where irate Kashmiri migrant employees are holding protest demonstrations for the last 12 days in support of their one point demand of safe relocation outside Kashmir valley.
A large gathering of employees, including women, raised patriotic and religious slogans while LG offered floral tributes to Rahul Bhat. The employees also demanded an ex-gratia of 4 crores for the family of martyred employee Rahul Bhat and made it clear they will not resume duties if their demands are not
met.
Earlier Rahul Bhat's father and wife Meenakshi Bhat had rejected the ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh and class-IV job offer in the school education department.
In the absence of any formal parleys the representatives of Kashmiri migrant employees wanted to handover a descriptive memorandum to him but LG preferred to return back without
holding meaningful discussions.
Before leaving the venue, he, however, extended an invitation to the protesting employees to meet him after wednesday to carry forward the discussion over their genuine demands. He also assured justice and swift resolution of their grievances.
All the Kashmiri minority community members including employees posted in the Kashmir valley have demanded immediate shifting outside Kashmir province to stop any further bloodshed. The employees have also warned the UT administration if their demand of relocation was not accepted they
would be forced to tender mass resignations
