The Jammu & Kashmir Unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party has launched a massive campaign in and around Jammu to mobilise common people to attend Union Home Minister Amit Shah's public rally on the occasion of 'Balidaan diwas' of Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee in Jammu on Friday.
On ground zero the entire party machinery is working round the clock to make it a big success but the prevailing hot and dry weather conditions may play a spoilsport.
The public rally of the Union Home Minister assumes significance as he is expected to woo the masses across the Jammu region ahead of the beginning of the long election season starting from Panchayat and local bodies elections by this year-end.
So far the party machinery has made arrangements for about 30,000 people by placing an equal number of chairs at the venue. Elaborate arrangements are being made to beat the heat by placing cooling fans and other air conditioners inside the big pandal but mobilizing common people may turn out to be a herculean task for the party machinery in the wake of prevailing weather conditions.
To ensure maximum participation senior BJP leaders led by the local unit chief Ravinder Raina have been organising street corner meetings to galvanise the support of party workers and other sympathizers for the success of the event.
The party workers from Udhampur, Reasi, Kathua Samba have been advised to reach the venue in time while those coming from the far off places like Doda, Ramban, Poonch, and Rajouri have been advised to arrive in Jammu ahead of the rally to avoid any inconvenience. When contacted, a senior BJP leader claimed it all depends on the timing of the public rally on Friday.
According to official sources, all entry points of the venue of the rally in the Bhagwati Nagar area would be blocked around 10 am.
