In a solemn ceremony reflecting deep patriotism and reverence, the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) on Wednesday paid heartfelt tributes to its brave personnel who laid down their lives in the service of the nation at the National Police Memorial in Chanakyapuri.

Marking one of the largest gatherings of its kind, the Force brought together the family members of 73 martyrs invited from across the country to honour the supreme sacrifice of the fallen heroes. A ceremonial salute and the Shok Shastra (Reverse Arms) drill were performed, accompanied by a poignant performance by the ITBP Band.

Prior to the commemorative event, ITBP Director General Shatrujeet Kapur, along with Bharti Kapur, Chairperson of the Himveer Wives Welfare Association (HWWA), personally interacted with each of the martyr families. The DG listened to their grievances and assurances were extended for prompt resolution and continuous support.

“The Force stands firmly alongside the families of our martyrs in every circumstance and remains unwavering in its commitment to extend all necessary assistance,” DG Kapur said. The families were also felicitated in recognition of their extraordinary resilience and taken on a sightseeing tour of the Capital.

The DG and senior officials laid floral wreaths at the Wall of Valour to pay homage to the glorious legacy of the bravehearts.

As part of the solemn observances earlier in the day, a blood donation camp was organised where ITBP personnel voluntarily donated nearly 100 units of blood. The event concluded with a special video presentation highlighting the Force’s contribution towards securing the nation’s high-altitude frontiers.
