With the launch of Indian Mars Mission Mangalyaan last year which led India into a new league of nations to achieve such a feat in the history of space research, the Indian Space Research Organisation, ISRO is celebrating its anniversary on September 24 when the Mangalyaan entered the sphere of red planet last year. AS Kiran Kumar, ISRO Chairman, speaking to media on the sideline of a seminar in Bengaluru, said that Mangalyaan, the Indian Space craft orbiting the red planet, woould last for many more years as it has more fuel.

He said, “Mars (mission) is expected to last for many years now, because it has gone through solar conjunction also, so we don’t see much of a problem till the next event like that happens. Still the space craft has 35 kg fuel and would last for many more years.”

Kumar was here to participate a function organised to celebrate 75th birth anniversary of Renowned scientist Prof Satish Dhawan.

Kumar said, “We had planned it only for six months, then we were not expecting so much fuel to be remaining after we complete our insertion activity. About 35 kgs of fuel is still left. There is still a lot of fuel...”
