NIA on Wednesday told a special court here that it has completed the interrogation of alleged ISIS recruit Areeb Majeed, after which he was remanded in judicial custody till December 31.
Five days before Majeed’s NIA remand comes to an end, the investigating agency on Wednesday told special judge YD Shinde that since it was through with the questioning, it does not require his custody any more. “We sought Majeed’s judicial remand as our investigation is over and we don’t require his custody any more,” an NIA official said.
On December 8, the court had remanded Majeed to NIA custody till December 22. Meanwhile, Majeed on Wednesday moved an application in the court pleading that he should not be kept in solitary confinement nor should any other investigating agency must quiz him. In his plea, he also sought that his family members be allowed to meet him in jail.
