IPS officer demands action for writing alive father late

Published on:

Senior IPS officer Amitabh Thakur demanded action against officers of State Vigilance Establishment who marked his father Tapeshwar Narayan Thakur as ‘late’ while he is very much alive.

Thakur claimed to have sought certain information in Right to Information (RTI) from the Establishment through his letter dated 23 November 2016, where he presented his father’s name as per the new format.

On Wednesday (November 30), he got a response from SP of Vigilance Establishment Mrigendra Singh, who used the word ‘late’ twice before the name of his father, while Thakur had only used the word ‘Sri’ as is the practice.

Taking serious objections, Thakur wrote to Director of Vigilance Bhanu Pratap Singh seeking to look into and act on this serious impropriety.

He charged that only a year ago, these officers had made detailed enquiry about his parents during a probe against him and have now used such undesirable word without any basis.
