Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati targeted the much-hyped ‘UP Investors Summit’ terming it as a total waste of public money in the name of inviting investments in the State. She said that the same funds could have been put to better use for the welfare of the poor and downtrodden sections.
‘The Investors Summits has become a fashion for Governments to spend people’s hard-earned money. It could have been put to better use for helping the poor, downtrodden and youth among others,” the BSP chief said.
Terming the Summit as an attempt by the BJP Government to divert people’s attention from problems like inflation and unemployment, Mayawati said that it seemed the Governments consider holding Summits as the ‘biggest service to the people and the means to resolve all pressing problems’.
The former UP Chief Minister said that until the law and order situation in the State did not improve, not a single industrialist would look towards the State. She apprehended that like other Investors Summits, the recent one might eventually turn out into a ‘political showbiz’ like the one during Samajwadi Party regime.
Mayawati further attacked the Yogi Government on supporting police encounters. “law and order can not improve only through encounters. The Government has not taken concrete steps to check ‘jungle raj’ and ‘mafia raj’ created by its own people.
