Ahead of the Diwali festivities, the situation on the line of Control (loC) and International Border continue to remain tense in Jammu & Kashmir.

Two back to back incidents of ceasefire violations in the last 24 hours in Poonch has spread panic in the area. The Pakistani Army is regularly targeting  forward Indian villages from their high altitude posts. On the other hand the routine life of border residents across Jammu frontier is yet to return to normalcy. The border villages are still struggling to limp back to normalcy. The routine hustle and bustle in the main towns along the International Border is still missing.

Fear-stricken residents continue to live on the edge as they fear Pakistan may once again provoke India by escalating border tensions in the run-up to the festival of lights falling on October 23.The BSF and Army authorities are also not taking any chances and geared up to tackle any threat from across the border. The foot soldiers  of the Indian Army and BSF jawans are maintaining tight vigil along the frontiers to prevent any infiltration bid.

According to reports the Pakistani Army targeted forward Indian posts in Hamirpur sector for over two hours between 9.00 to 11.00 pm late Thursday night using small arms and automatic weapons. Fresh firing resumed early Friday morning around 10.00 am and continued intermittently.According to reports the Indian Army retaliated the fire using similar calibre of weapons. No loss of life and property was reported in the area, official sources said.
