Internal strife: Akhilesh talks to Shivpal over phone for 45 mins

Published on:

Bickering within Samajwadi Party’s first family is likely to be sorted out after reports of party chief Akhilesh Yadav’s 45-minute telephonic talk with his uncle Shivpal Singh Yadav on Monday. Probability is now high that the warring duo could meet in very near future. Since October 24, 2016, this is the first time that Akhilesh had spoken to his uncle after their open public spat at the State SP office. Sources close to these leaders claimed that Akhilesh is ready to give the national general secretary’s post to Shivpal but was not ready to accept any other leader including some from the family in the party. “Akhilesh has given a clear message to his family by announcing that his wife Dimple Yadav would not contest any election in future. The SP president wants to end charges of dynasty politics against him and hence was not ready to accept any family member in the party,” a senior SP leader said in lucknow on Tuesday. Meanwhile, SP patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav, presently in New Delhi, could attend the SP’s national convention at Agra on October 5. This was cofirmed by a close Mulayam aide. “Though ‘netaji’ has not confirmed his participation yet, he has given enough indication on the matter about his presence at the Agra convention,” the leader said.
