Interim protection from arrest by HC for Radhe Maa

A day after a city court rejected her anticipatory bail in the alleged dowry harassment case, the Bombay High Court on Friday granted an interim protection from arrest to self-styled godwoman Radhe Maa alias Sukhvinder Kaur.

In a relief that came hours after she was questioned by the Kandivli police in connection with an inquiry ordered under section 156 (3) of CrPC by a Borivli Magistrate on a complaint of alleged dowry harassment filed by a housewife, Justice Mridula Bhatkar of the high court granted an interim pre-arrest bail for two weeks.

Justice Bhatkar of the high court scheduled the next hearing of the petition filed by Radhe Maa after a fortnight.

Seeking relief for Radhe Maa, her counsel Abad Ponda argued before the high court that except his client, all six other accused in the alleged dowry case, including the husband of the complainant Nikki Gupta, had already been granted protection by the trial court.
