Inter-State drug-trafficking racket busted in Delhi, heroin supplier held

With the arrest of a drug supplier, the Crime Branch of Delhi Police on Thursday claimed to have unearthed an inter-state supply network of drugs being operated from Seempuri and Dilshad Garden in the national Capital. Police said that they have also recovered 500 grams of heroin from the possession of the accused.

The accused has been identified as 60 year-old Idrish, a resident of Seemapuri and a native of Bulandshahr district in Uttar Pradesh (UP). Police said that he was found previously involved in three cases of NDPS Act and has been active in criminal activities since 2001.

This is the sixth such bust of the interstate drug supply network in the past six weeks.According to Chinmoy Biswal, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Narcotics Cell of Crime Branch, specific inputs were received that Idrish who is involved in supply of contraband heroin would be coming near round-about Seemapuri towards Dilshad Garden to supply heroin to a receiver.“Acting on the specific inputs, a police team laid a trap and apprehended Idrish.

Police also recovered 500 grams of heroin from his possession on the spot,” said the DCP.“Interrogation revealed that in the year 2001 he was found in possession of 500 grams of heroin and was sent to jail. When he came out of jail,  he started selling vegetables but in order to earn quick money he again started trafficking heroin,” said the DCP.

“During year 2011, he again was found in possession of 500 grams of heroin. After coming out from jail he again revived his links with the big suppliers of Bareilly. In 2015, he was again caught by the Narcotics Cell and 210 grams of heroin was also recovered from his possession,” said the DCP.

“As per his involvements and period spent in jail, it is clear that he was repeatedly involving himself in drug trafficking. He had begun his foray into the trade of illegal drugs as a peddler but soon he climbed up the ladder to become one of the sought after suppliers of heroin in Delhi and its peripherals,” said the DCP. Further investigation is in progress to identify the entire chain of drug trafficking.

The seizure of heroin from Idrish is a significant dent in the network of drug suppliers active in the areas of Seemapuri and Dilshad Garden,” said the DCP adding that the main source of the supply has been identified as a resident of Bareilly (UP) and raids are on to nab him.
