Intelligence failure led to ambush on Armymen in Manipur: Cong

Published on:

The Congress on Friday attacked the Modi Government terming it ‘ineffective’ in securing the Border claiming that 1,000 ceasefire violations have been witnessed since its assumption of power. The party alleged that Intelligence failure led to the ambush by insurgents in Manipur that killed 18 Armymen.  Former MoS Home Affairs RPN Singh also took a dig at Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar and advised him to refrain from making statements that ‘lower’ his high office.

AICC spokesman RPN Singh said that it was a matter of concern that intelligence agencies were “not aware” even a day after the deadly ambush as to which insurgent organisation was behind it. He said the incident was the worst in 33 years. Singh said that 10 years of UPA rule had seen a lull in insurgent activity with peace agreements in force.  Pitching for strictest action against those behind the ambush, he said that Congress will stand by efforts that would weaken those working against national security. He also claimed that the problem is that the Defence Minister is not aware of how many Rafale jet fighter planes are being brought as his Ministry is being run by the PMO.
