In its first-ever flag meeting this year both India and Pakistan on Monday resolved to respect the ceasefire agreement and took a pledge to defuse the volatile situation along the line of Control (loC).

The flag meeting organised by India was attended by Brigade Commander-level officers from both the sides near the Chakan-da-Bagh transit point in Poonch. During the hour-long meeting both the sides agreed to exercise restraint and work for defusing the situation on the loC.

“The flag meeting was held at Chakan-da-Bagh loC crossing point in Poonch sector”, PRO Defence (officiating) SN Acharya said.

The representatives of the two nations addressed a host of issues regarding ongoing ceasefire violations, targeting of civilians and sniping action on the loC, the PRO said.

“Both sides have understood the importance of exercising restraint and have decided to take steps to defuse the situation,” he said.

During the meeting the Indian side was represented by Brigadier HS Sareen while the Pakistani side was led by Brigadier Osman.
