India, which had played an important role in the liberation of Bangladesh from the oppressive rule of Pakistan, would now help it in producing a film depicting “War of liberation”.
The project would also help Dhaka in recognising the contribution of 8,000 Indian soldiers who laid their lives during this historic struggle.
Bangladeshi Information and Broadcasting Minister Hasanul Haq Inu mooted the idea during his meeting with Indian counterpart Manish Tewari on Thursday. The two Ministers decided to work towards a roadmap to finalise the details of proposal including its production cost and actors among others.
Inu also requested that the names of all Indian soldiers who laid their lives during the war of liberation be provided so that Dhaka could issue a certificate to honour each of them.
The two Ministers agreed to set up a Joint Working Group on the critical sectors of the Information and Broadcasting domain that would provide a roadmap for future collaborations. Dhaka requested India to facilitate the downlinking of Bangladesh TV Channels through the private distribution network.
The duo agreed to intensify the collaboration between Prasar Bharati and Bangladesh State Television in view of the MoU signed between the two entities in 2011 for broadcast and co-production of television programmes. It was also decided that New Delhi will help Dhaka in training and capacity building of institutions and both will exchange archival material.
