In a major feat for India, ‘world’s largest practical science lesson’ conducted by 2,000 school students at the IIT Delhi recently, has made it to the prestigious Guinness Book of World Records. The achievement has come just six months after India set two Guinness World Records with a mega yoga event at the Rajpath in the national Capital.
The participants had attempted the new world record for the highest number of students to conduct an experiment simultaneously, on chemical catalysis at the same venue on December 7 at IIT Delhi.
The experiment was coordinated by the Union Ministry of Science and Technology and organized by an NGO Vijnana Bharati (VIBHA) as part of the five-day India International Science Festival (IISF).
Ireland holds the previous record of around 1,300 students conducting an experiment at the same venue. The Science and Technology Ministry had organised the event.
On June 21, on the occasion of the first International Day of Yoga, on Rajpath, the largest yoga lesson involved 35,985 participants. The event entered into the Guinness Record books.
