In a soup, Shahabuddin praises Nitish Govt's work

While the Supreme Court on Monday gave a notice to RJD leader and former Siwan MP Mohammad Shahabuddin seeking his response as to why his bail should not be cancelled, the controversial four-time MP on Tuesday tried to assuage the hurt feelings of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and the JD(U) by praising the works of the Government. Meanwhile, the Siwan trial court judge Ajay Kumar Srivastava, who had convicted Shahabuddin for life in connection with the abduction and murder of two sons of local trader Chandra Keshwar Prasad, sought his transfer only two days after the release of the RJD leader. Srivastava was transferred to Patna by the order of the Patna High Court on September 9.

Shahabuddin attended RJD meeting in Siwan on Tuesday and lauded the work of not only the present Government which also involved RJD but also the previous Government headed by Nitish. He said the condition of roads were now very good.

“There may be some drawbacks but as a whole the Government is doing very good and I hope it will work in a better way in the coming days,” Shahabuddin said.

The Siwan strongman who was released from Bhagalpur jail on September 7 following the bail granted by the Patna High Court, had created flutter in political circle by saying that Nitish was CM of circumstances and that lalu Prasad was, is and will remain his leader. This had angered the CM, who said he did not take notice of such things and that he got mandate to serve the people and not to react on such issues, and the JD(U) leaders who reacted angrily.

later on Shahabuddin tried to clarify that his statement was taken wrongly and recalled the examples of IK Gujral, HD Deve Gowda, Charan Singh who, he said, became Prime Minister due to circumstances. “The main aim was to check the BJP and so our party accepted Nitish as leader and helped him becoem the CM,” he said.
