Officers present in the meeting informed that average retail prices of onion in Delhi are stable since last week.

They further informed that onion prices are likely to remain stable in near future also due to the imposition of export ban on onions, continuing less demand of onion as compared to the last year and likelihood of arrival of sufficient fresh onion produce in Delhi by the end of November, 2020.  During the meeting, Minister also reviewed the price trend of other commodities viz tomato, potato and other essential commodities. Imran Hussain directed the officers to take effective action against any hoarding activity.

The Minister directed CFS to immediately constitute an Enforcement Team to check hoarding and black-marketing activities and take strict preventive and punitive action, including lodging of FIR against the black marketeers and hoarders as per law, if needed.

The minister expressed confidence that retail prices of these commodities are likely to stabilize in near future and that there is no need for public to panic. Hussain also informed that Delhi Government is keeping a close watch on the price trends of essential commodities and assured that wherever considered necessary, Delhi Government will undertake market intervention for stabilization of prices of commodities in Delhi.
